Planning a wedding? There is so much to think about… colours, guests, venue, photography, attire, flowers, invitations and on and on. We took a little stress off a beautiful bride to be recently and coordinated her wedding print for her. Honestly, it was a privlege! Jennifer Margach and Bryce Thoma are due to wed this summer in the lovely city of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Their venue is a downtown vintage theatre, so we decided to make the invitation look like a giant ticket. The RSVP card is perforated to tear off, just like an event ticket. The couple’s wedding colours are ivory, black and pink, which we highlighted with some vintage florals and fun typography. We were able to profile the couple’s exquisite engagement photography done by Danielle Stasiuk – the black and whites look stunning!
I am in love with this piece. It is so unique, and a perfect blend of class and cuteness – just like Jen! It was so much fun to deliver the finished product to her. Thanks Jen and Bryce for letting us contribute to your amazing wedding plans.
Maybe I am more excited about this than I should be. However, wedding print is what made me fall in love with graphic design. I have a shoebox under my bed full of invitations I have received, contributed to, or taken from friends to add to my collection. There are so many ways to be creative with print, and I admire the brides who like to do things differently – go beyond what is “typical” or “traditional” and really put themselves into it. I am giddy when I receive a wedding invitation in the mail. I carefully note the wording, the font choices, the texture of the paper and the details that make it personal. Yes, perhaps it is a bit overboard but… moving on.
We like doing wedding or special event invitations at Redpoint, and we’ve got some new ideas up our sleeves. Stay tuned!
